What is a script?
A screenplay is a script for a movie. Written by a screenwriter, the scripts are of usually the first completed step of a film. The basic components of a screenplay are action and dialogue. "Action" is used to describe things like the location of a scene, the personality, appearance and traits of the characters, and the visual actions that take place in each scene. Because film is a visual medium, the action can be more expansive and descriptive in a screenplay than in a play. "Dialogue" refers to the words spoken by the characters. Through these elements, the screenwriter tells a story intended for a film format, just as a playwright creates works intended to be performed on stage.
